The transfer cases spread power from the rear and front axles. They work using engine power. Through chains, the engines send energy from the output shaft through a set of gears, and the power is delivered to the axles. The chains are an obvious way of powering a power transfer; they are quiet and lighter than bags. Modern transfer cases mostly contain chains, transfer cases found in old school vehicles mostly use gears. Gears are known for their reliability and the aptitude to handle significant amounts of torque compared to chains.
Gear settings are divided into two, high and low. Low gears are used to provide more torque while traveling at slow speeds, commonly used in quiet quality roads. High gears are basically for off-loading situations such as heavy rains, dirt, and ice. These jeep transfer cases will have to be manually engaged in the old school vehicles and a button switch for modern cars.
Jeep Transfer Systems
Jeeps have several types of systems. The systems depend on the models that a person is using. The more expensive the model, the more capable the transfer case compared to less expensive models. Some have manual systems while others have automatic systems, which kick in whenever there is a need for it. The typical jeep example is the Rubicon, an off-loading wrangler equipped with the most capable transfer system.

This is a system that is two-speed busy full time. It is operational in a 4H auto, which automatically engages and disengages depending on the driving conditions. The traction sensors and the inner wheel speed help determine before it switches into another gear; the system requires an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is quite expensive.
The rock-trac part-time 4WD system
It is equipped with an NV241 off-road transfer case I another one. It is found on a wrangler off-roading model. The system is for superior models, and it provides high amounts of torque at slower speeds. The system helps the jeep maintain a slow and steady rock-climbing pace with enough torque to manage the terrain. It has tru-lock electronic locking front and rear gears. This enhances the jeep’s off-roading capabilities to a higher level.
The command trac part-time 4WD system
It is standard in jeeps of the sport and Sahara wrangler models. It has a track system whose command is a part-time four-wheel-drive system. It contains an NV241G11 transfer case, command-trac, which is a shift on the fly system. The transfer case shifts from 2WD to 4WD using 45 miles per hour speed. It has a low range ratio, which is 2.72:1, which gives the torque needed to move at low rates over rocks. It is not advisable to operate the command trac system on a dry roadway or all-weather roads since its primary use is off-roading conditions. It is used for extra protection in weather such as snow or ice. The jeep can operate in the rear-wheel-drive when the system is not engaged.
The quadra-trac system
It is a chain drive system used on jeeps. It is equipped with a differential cone-type slim limiting clutch to distribute the torque between the front and rear gear output shafts. It utilizes a vacuum switch wrought using a differential lock. It can provide efficient four-wheel drive operation on all surfaces. This system has 4WD all-time mode; its center differential is open and spreads torque to both rear and front axles. The difference in speeds occurs within the axles when heat builds, causing the fluid, vicious, to thicken—locking the center, thus relocating power to the axle with a lot of traction. Strength is found in high and low ranges since the torque is multiplied using a planetary gear set.
The jeep transfer cases occur in various types of systems. Each system works differently using its variety of transfer cases. While they may differ the transfer, the transfer cases work to provide the same service. The transfer systems help the jeeps navigate the stony and hilly terrain that they are designed to access. They enable the jeeps to perform their jobs effectively.
